We are pleased to announce yet another strong addition to our growing team of microbiome scientists. Thorsten Brach has joined us as Director of Scientific Operations.
Thorsten holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in molecular biotechnology from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. During his PhD, Thorsten studied the regulation of vesicular trafficking pathways – endocytosis and autophagy – at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).
He continued his academic career at the Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR, University of Copenhagen) after receiving a ‘Marie Curie individual fellowship’ to investigate age-associated changes in the way our immune system reacts to gut microbes. At CBMR he further studied the role of gut microbes in cirrhosis progression as part of two European liver disease consortia.
Thorsten’s research has contributed to well-cited scientific publications in the field of redox biology, vesicular trafficking and gut microbiome research.
