We are pleased to announce a further strengthening of our bioinformatics team.
Albert Palleja Caro is a valuable new signing with significant experience in shotgun metagenomics analyses of interventional studies targeting directly or indirectly the gut microbiota of human donors. He has been the main driver of studies characterizing the effects of gastric bypass, weight loss and antibiotics on the gut microbiota. Besides this he has been involved in studies looking to find microbial markers for colorectal cancer and childhood obesity in humans, and multiple sclerosis in mice.
Albert holds a PhD in genome structure of bacterial genomes from the University of Tarragona (Catalunya, Spain). Previously to joining Clinical-Microbiomics, Albert has been a postdoc at the NNF Center for Protein Research studying protein networks related to human diseases under Lars Juhl Jensen and Søren Brunak, and at the NNF Center for Basic Metabolic Research working within the microbiome field under Manimozhiyan Arumugam.
Albert has strong skills in executing and coordinating bioinformatics analyses on microbiome data and on the biological interpretation of the results. He will be part of our bioinformatics team contributing with his expertise.
