Data scientist / software engineer at Clinical Microbiomics

Clinical Microbiomics is a rapidly growing Group at the forefront of microbiome research with companies in the US and Denmark, and we are looking for a new colleague to join our Data science and engineering team in Copenhagen.

The CM Data science and engineering team spearhead the design, development, and maintenance of our R-based bioinformatics infrastructure. This position is pivotal in scaling our services and your role is to empower our science team to deliver client projects with unmatched efficiency and quality. This role not only allows you to shape the foundational tools of our scientific services but also to mentor and elevate our team’s capabilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain our internal suite of R packages used for microbiome data analysis, visualization, and automated reporting with a focus on robustness and scalability.
  • Set strategic direction for development of our R infrastructure and solutions enabling its scalability to support a growing user base, developers, and expanded functionalities.
  • Collaborate closely with users and microbiome bioinformaticians to ensure our codebase meets the scientific and practical needs that enables us to deliver world-class microbiome service to our clients.
  • Provide training to our Bioinformatics Service team, empowering them to utilize the infrastructure effectively.
  • Technical supervision of junior colleagues.

We are looking for candidates with the following profile and qualifications: 

Required qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in R package development.
  • Experience with software development/engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and software versioning.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Interest in microbiome data analysis.

Advantageous qualifications:

  • Experience with software validation for GxP.
  • Familiarity with AI tools for automation.

Location: Based at Symbion in Copenhagen with the flexibility for remote work within European time zones. Initial onboarding will be conducted in Copenhagen.
